Activities Description

Part of your primary application includes talking about the things you’ve been involved in. On AMCAS, you get 15 slots to talk about your activities. 700 characters for each, and you get 1325 additional characters for most meaningful activities. You are allowed to have up to 3 most meaningful activities.

A question I get a lot is: how do I decided what 3 to choose? It’s pretty simple, yet cliche. Choose the 3 that were most meaningful to you. If you know you hated your research, don’t put it as a most meaningful because you think that’s what medical schools want. Medical schools want you to be truthful and what to know what your passions are.

My general rule of thumb is in 700 characters, you should do the following:

  1. Explain your role and responsibilities

  2. Describe the impact you had and on who

  3. Reflect/Describe the impact it had on you
